I use/mix all four. I use ADA and Mineralized top soil pretty sparingly but it does cover all of your bases to use a mix.

Unfortunately I never found a good cure-all/quick fix for MP. I used a bamboo skewer to twist some of the algae out of it but eventually got frustrated with it, and took the clean stuff as a culture...

Its probably from the use of peat in the substrate mix. It should fade with time. For now I would just give it weekly 50% water changes and you should be good and clear in a month or less.

Yes it will still grow. Ive had some hang on in HOB filter with just room light for a long time. It does get taller in the filters but I havent kept it in a low light tank so I couldnt say there.
