Ok, decided on weeping moss for the wood and eleocharis sp mini for the back and sides and hydrocotyle tripartita for the foregound bottom right (sort of mixed in a bit).

Not sure what to use for...

I do live in a city, not far from London so I suppose it wouldn't be that clean. A big bottle of spring water would be cheap enough.

I was thinking Hydrocotyle tripartita but apparently it likes warmer water. I does get cold in out house sometimes when the heating is off in the winter, like below 18c. Could give it a go and see.

It's quite small so maybe just a couple of shrimp. I would love some bumble bee shrimp. That's why I was thinking about using softer water.

I see what you mean :) it doesn't solve my impatience just gives me a distraction. Hopefully setting up a mini scape will help to take my mind off the main tank.

Had to take this down because we needed the spare room for a nursery. I still have the cylinder. Will prob set it up again when the kids are bigger and we have the space.
