Forget pots when u set this filter up! choose water tolerant plants and plant them...

Drop the water emmersion and make sure you grow plants the LOVE wet soil... they usually form very beneficial fungal and bacterial relationships that allow them to take advantage of the conditions...

Yeah definately "sick-lid". Always better to be safe than sorry, particularly with plants, some scientific names are nearly identical but the plants are vastly different.

I disagree, you can overfilter. They call it "scrubbing". I recall a wise man telling me that filtering any more than 4-5 times your water volume per hour is overkill. (Freshwater aquaria, planted)....

Lights were crappy spectrum for plant growth and too close to the tank.
