Ha ha ! It's your tank, go with what works best for you. I think it looks great regardless, the rocks have some great detail and will be complimented even more once the plants fill.

Decided to clean a filter today and usually after taking the media out I dump the water inside the canister out in the back yard, but since it was raining I got lazy and dumped it into the bath....
