Is the drop checker in a dead-zone?
I had mine in the flow of my spraybar across the tank and I always had accurate readings and everything started working like clockwork.

Personally I would ditch the swords and go with crypts if you haven't bought them yet.
Reason being they grow literally ginormous. My red melon before I chucked it was 3.5ft tall by 3ft wide.

Nah, I would go as far as to say it is on par or lower in demand than a planted tank if you stick with soft corals.

Back when I was 12-13 I had a nano cube with a few soft corals and a few polyps...

My red melon sword sent up 4-6 stalks 1 time it started growing baby swords and 3 times it sprouted a really nice looking purple flower. The other times it did what yours did.

1) to reduce the splashing noise, and 2) to make sure there were no ways for the bubbles to escape.
