I'll have to try and dig some of the roots out of a bigger sample of that second one. I was thinking algae... but i've never heard of one that is rooted. But after looking it up... it sure does...

I believe the first one is moneywart (judging by pictures and that it is growing both immersed and submersed.

What you could do is just glue a bunch of the black substrate, that is around the sand, together... that way it won't move onto the sand and it acts as a barrier, but at a glance no one would notice...
