Did you ever figure out what's going on with this? If you have eliminated legitimate causes I'd suspect a defect - I have the 2-lamp version and it works on a timer just fine, the breaker stays...

I think the box says 925, but to be honest it...
I think the box says 925, but to be honest it seems more like 450ish. My plumbing is rather n00bish so it adds a bit of head, but I tested it into a bucket and it wasn't anywhere close to 900 lol.

I think that depends on the tank parameters... Size, flow, etc. In my 55 gallon there is no surface agitation whatsoever, but there is a strong current (i.e. when I drop floating food in it scoots...

Personally, I prefer a reactor, for a couple reasons: 1) I don't like bubbles in my tank, even micro bubbles... Lots of folks don't mind, that's just my preference. 2) I feel that it uses my gas...
