I'm thinking its in the Pyrrhulina species, which depending on where you read (Internet vs books) is a pencil fish or tetra. A quick Google search will yield several different pictures of fish that...

I got this from a local guy, he forgot what it was. Apparently it's a tetra, lays eggs like a cichlid on a leaf etc, guarding them for a day or so until eating or abandoning them.

It'll fall apart at the same rate it's falling apart in your tank, but it could reach a point where it's just soft and not quite falling apart quickly. I'd put it in. See how it goes

Copper is a parasite, invertebrate, just like shrimp, snails....
