I can understand your concern, but the pond is indoors...not outdoors. Outdoors, such a shallow pond would be a temperature problem even outside of that period...too shallow.

Am I right that the female keeps other fish away from the brooding male? (Oh, by the way, if you ever breed osphromenoides, it is a maternal mouth brooder for some odd reason).

'ello all! I am strongly considering, in the future, owning a 6 inch deep, indoor container pond...which doesn't sound like much until you realise that it is actually a 4 foot diameter kiddie pool!...

Pygmies are not picky about water conditions...okefenokee pygmies can be found in areas of PH as low as 3 in the wild, but will happily breed at a PH of 8 in captivity. They will also do fine at room...

Agree with above...just about any largish...

Agree with above...just about any largish showcase fish (angelfish, paradise fish, Opaline gourami, etc) will not hesitate to snack on a neon, even if the fish is otherwise fairly docile.

Serapes will shred the gourami if you do not either move them or increase their numbers to 8 minimum. Even then, they might still nip any pearl gourami in the tank.
