Cation exchange capacity has been maxed out. I don't think it is a concern. To be honest, I am not sure how available those nutrients are to the pants once they have been absorbed.

I personally don't think macandra will ever get very deep red from what I have studied. It definitely won't help if you are running a 10k bulb however

I think it depends also on the spectrum of light you are using. Even if they aren't altering photos, a bulb or leds with lots of red can have a big impact on how they appear.

they have several spectrums available. The Dutch or "Dutch II " (secret menu if you will) is the way to go if you want nice reds. The reds in my tank look awesome after a month with the fixture

Even if you don't run a sump, this is such an easy way to go to minimize maintenance. I set one up on my 125 and it was the best thing I have done.
