I have had trouble keeping my Cardinal tetras very long at those temps but Rummy Nose seem to last longer but that may be my particular tank. Less prone to be snacks for the discus too.

Same surface area as a standard 75 gallon so I think you can easily do 8 adults although 6 might be easier if you want to have other fish in there, in terms of bioload.
