If you are keeping TB's, you shouldn't focus on making it a planted tank thing. Ferts are for high requirement plants, something that normally doesn't mix with TB's. I personally dose Flourish...

Wow, how did I miss your update? The HC is amazing even for 3 months! Make sure you dose CO2 well to keep it healthy when flooded otherwise you'll get unwanted algae :/

These are very unsightly to look at and a bit yucky in a way if you ever have to stick your hands in the tank :/ And I think the kind you mention about stays on the substrate level. I have those too...
