We could go on forever here, but a 10 x 3 is much less co2 than 10 x 30 is it not? Hence the buffering capacity of KH.

Do you have a canister filter, if so try a reactor on the outflow of the filter, or alernatively, try introducing CO2 on the intake side. I have not ever done the second option, but a lot on here...
