Have read myself to the point of confusion

OK 1st dedicate planted tank. Doing a 58g tank (36X18X21) Ehimim 2217, and a BML Dutch planted LED.
Was looking at using Eco-complete/Flourite mix. I have read that this is a wast of time and money...
