You might want to add some wood to the stand. As of now the weight will be held solely by 8 screws. I would add a couple 2x4's either on the front or side of the vertical pieces you have.

Only anubius, mosses and ferns grow because you lowered your lights through blocking light with floating plants. In a sense, you are messing with lighting.

Small tanks are not more beneficial for breeding CPD's. More plants or ways to catch eggs is far more important than tank size. More plants, marbles, netting or whatever your way is of hiding eggs...

I've had this same growth in multiple tanks. Every time I use clear tubing I get it. Just use a tube brush on it. Mine went away after a while. I never used filter floss in any of my filters btw.
