Dull-colored Cryptocoryne, possible nutrient deficiency?

My Cryptocoryne (I think it's a green wendtii, but I'm not sure) is growing dull-colored, narrow leaves, as you can see in the photograph. When I bought the plant, its leaves were broader, and a very...

OK all....thanks for all your advice. From a bit of my own research, I'm fairly sure that I am seeing the results of biogenic decalcification....so, how do I stop this from happening? Less nutrients?...

No, my KH is normally around 4 or 5. I've done a couple water changes to get the KH up a bit, and I'll see if it holds. It's possible I miscalculated when I mixed the trace, I'll re-mix before I dose...

I have anacharis and a moss ball. I know anacharis can pull carbon from the carbonate, but it seems strange that this would happen all at once after the KH had been stable. Also, if the anacharis was...

Water chemistry question--carbonates??

An unusual situation: I recently noticed a white chalky substance that has precipitated on my gravel and glass. Accompanying this was a drop in KH, so I am suspecting that something has caused my...

Low-Tech Planted Tank, newbie, just starting out

I'm beginning my first planted tank (I've had a good deal of experience with fish, not so much with plants); it's a low-tech affair, 10 gallons.

Right now, I only have Anacharis, which I added on...

Thanks. Actually, it would be 2.25 Watts per gallon, not 2.5. I suppose I'll try it, and rethink things if I end up with too much light. However, what with the thing being adjustable height, I...

That's exactly right. It's the perfect width for our plant table/tank stand. So, the question pertains to the amount of light received in a 20-inch-long tank placed under a 48-inch tube.

True...I'm just trying to figure out if it will give me the right amount of light. Arithmetically, I can figure out (20"/48")*54 Watts = 22.5 Watts = 2.25 Watts per gallon, but I don't know if it...

I'm interested in setting up a ten-gallon low-tech (no CO2, low-ish light) planted tank. My original plan was to use a couple of CFL bulbs for lighting; however, we're considering this product to...
