Unfortunately, I can't answer your question, even though I had a similar issue. Well, at least the rise in ammonia. Water conditioner and chloramine perhaps? Not enough info to explain. I can however...

Are you guys thinking of Chinese algae eaters (Gyrinocheilus aymonieri) and not SAE (Crossocheilus oblongus)? The aggression and lack of actually eating algae in adulthood sounds like the Chinese...

I've seen Anubias congenesis 'mini' being sold on more websites than just Ebay. No idea on the size, other than midground and I never bothered to ask. Could just be a slightly smaller version, which...

Sorry, but comparing posts #58 and #68, there's really no way to know if your tank is cycled. Neither post seems to show any ammonia, which would be the case without an ammonai source. I don't think...

It doesn't have to look like a slice of Borneo, all it has to do is make you happy when you look at it. At least that's how I try and view any scapes I do.

With Crypts, I always put them directly...

I'm really liking this! A nice mixture of plants. I think it's looking good so far. Your H. humilis seems smaller and redder than the one I got, so I'm jealous of that. Just curious, but why are...

I bought the Dennerle tissue cups. Was only planning to get the C. lutea 'hobbit', but the place having it had one free cup of the kompact left so I ended up with that too. Can only speak to how...

I like the layout so far. Can't wait to see it with Crypts and flooded. You're going to have a whole lot of Crypts with three cups. The come packed in there pretty tight and seem to contain even more...

The CO2 measurements aren't exact, but for all intents and purposes, they are close enough for home aquariums. The CO2 indicator color is the method I use. Hoppy had a thread recently about CO2 drop...

I love Rachel O'Leary. All of my current fish are from her, although I'm perhaps spoiled living only an hour away. You really can't beat having fish shipped for less than $10.

Thanks for the links. I have to watch the first one yet. I do know that CO2 doesn't replace oxygen in the water. The part I'm curious about (and guess I should research) is how much oxygen production...

I can't speak for the 40B, but have kept Boraras in a 10, 20 high (along with T. espei), 20 long, and 29. The largest group I had was in the 29 (obviously) where I had 25 along with 6 Dario hysginon...
