Definitely a scud aka gammarus shrimp. Small fish will eat them. If you have one, odds are you have more of them. They can take over a tank in no time if there are no predators in with them. I have...

It can take over 2 weeks before the cluster hatches. Before it does, it turns from pink to grey right before the little snails emerge. If it starts to look greenish it's most likely gone bad but I...

I use almond leaves in all my shrimp tanks. They do color the water, but I love the look of it. My shrimp eat the entire leaves down to the skeleton. Oak leaves work well too if you can collect them...

CPDs do usually breed continuously, dropping a few eggs each day during the cooler months of the year. Mine pretty much stop from June to September but now they are already at it again. I have to set...

Hard to believe that one assassin snail wiped out your entire pest snail population if you had a snail explosion. MTSs and pond snails both multiply much faster that assassins can take them out. Also...

I second the mystery snail guess but I am not sure either. Especially since you say you did not add any new items to the tank. Do you have mystery snails in any other tank? Mystery snails lay their...

My smallest fish that will only eat live food is a black darter tetra. He is only a little over 1 inch. Dwarf puffers come to mind. But both of them will eat worms in addition to any fish fry.

They are not toxic to fish. I only have them in two tanks but my CPD fry, L134s and corys are all fine. Mine float a lot on the surface too. They eat the fry food I put in the tank for the CPDs. The...

I have had that happen in only one of my tanks and I have MTSs in all of them. My 55 gal with L199s and L201s and 2 BNs. I suspect either the L199s or the L201s to be snail eaters. This is the only...
