IMO, I think the tank looks pretty good! Once your plants grow out a bit and take form I'm sure your tank will pull together nicely. I like the bare open space in the middle (just my preference)....

In my experience, when I did my DSM I just cranked up my Co2 once I filled my tank to reduce my chances of my HC melting. I still have a full carpet as of now. Best of luck to you!

I dosed one pump each. The first week I was getting some algae but after that everything seemed to even out for me. Maybe lowering your light would help with the spreading of your HC.

Thanks! It took about 3 weeks to get it where I like it. Well worth the wait. I know, the worst part about open tanks is that fish can jump out whenever they want.

It could be "yeast gunk". When I used my DIY co2 I had the exact same "growth" on the diffuser. You should try on getting tweezers and pulling it out or sucking it up when you do a water change.
