Chicken wire doesn't keep raccoons out, they pull it apart. Relocating raccoons is illegal in many places (California). You need hardware cloth.

I have the Fugeray, and I don't use co2. Floating plants can often be had for free from the RAOK section here. RO//DI units are an investment up front, but totally worth it in the long run IMO.

Petsmart has their 10g top fin kit for 50% off, today only. The kit I got came with LED lights, heater, filter, hood, aquarium, etc for $30. Not bad for a starter or quarantine tank.

I just got 6mm thick lids made for my tank and visibly I don't notice a difference. The length is 22" and width is about 7", and they don't budge when my 10 pound Bengal cats jump on them.
