You'll be fine! It sounds like you covered everything pretty good so I would'nt worry about it. I've painted about 5 or 6 tanks already and it just looks so much better than any store bought...

you don't have to take them apart. you need to "disconnect" the disconnects and on the male part there is a small black o-ring, coat that with a thin layer of vaseline and see if it still leaks.
