more heaters with higher wattage would be better. Lower wattage heaters are going to run longer and hotter. Another high watt heater is going to reduce strain on the others.

I wonder about the feasibility of running the water through a solar pool heater.

You could also wrap the sides and back of the tank in insulation so that it retains as much heat as possible.

I'm interested to see how it does. I don't expect you'll have any problems. My only concern is if the parts aren't air tight and water gets inside and sits... but, I mean, just how bad could that be....
