If your talking about the internal reactor. I use one. Top hole is plumbed into the pump. The bottom hole is just a burp hole if the co2 where to happen to build up to that point.

Do a search on the diy sliding glass top. YouTube has it. Its a $5.00 or less window channel at Lowes. Its PVC so you can paint it if you want. Have some glass cut at a glass shop and life is good.

I think dead is correct. The co2 feed usually goes at the bottom so it fights the water current that tries to force it down. That increases exposure time and dissolves more co2,

5 is too much. 3 to 4 is better. Too much ammonia may inhibit nitrite production. Add fish when you see the nitrite rise and then fall. 50% water change and add fish.

With all due respect to James, I think he has some reading to do. The pH swing of one degree caused by co2 is no cause for concern and quite normal in any co2 injected tank.

I am with Clearwater on this one. IMO anything over 50, go with a wet dry sump. I would also run a canister with it for increased areas of flow and water clarity.
