Yes the fish is dead.

It was not nearly as wacky shaped as the picture looks but it definitely had a big head compared to the rest of its body. In total it was maybe 2" long.

I don't know how much strength was lost but I had that tank running for over a year with no problems.

Indeed you'll need some kind of cleaner (acetone, spirits, etc) to get all the silicone off....

Yes, just plant it like other stems. They will fill in and start to spread slowly . To trim, I usually just snip the tops like a hair cut. Takes it a week or so to rebound and then it takes off again.

Fliers and dollar sunfish would do well in anything larger than a 20g. I kept green sunfish, red breasts and perch for a while, not with plants though. They never dug or moved gravel like cichlids do...

Sorry, I meant to say I had 5 shrimp in a 5 gallon, 1 assassin. Now its 1 and 1. I can't say for sure that the snail killed them, but I don't know why they'd drop dead all of a sudden and this shrimp...
