i thought that wasn't an issue when using breather bags? Also do you think that 10 shrimp in a bag for less then 24 hours could generate that much ammonia? If so that is a possibility.

any of those small betta heaters will probably only raise the temp a degree or two, you need to get it up to 78 at least.

Just because some fish may die during farming, catching etc...

I turned the heater down, we have air conditioning so it should lower the temp, I'm so used to keeping fish that need higher temps that I just automatically put it to 78. It should cool down to 74ish...

I would replace the old bulb to be on the safe side, usually they only last about a year before they become less effective. Good luck with the algae battle, a blackout or peroxide can work quite well.
