You'll be fine with a low tech tank, so log as you keep your light low enough. Light drives the growth, and this the demands for ferts and co2 go up as you increase the light. That being said, if...

We are arguing the same points, but speaking different languages :D my main point the whole time was to say that if you start at 3ppm and drop the ph by 1, you will be at 30ppm regardless of your kh....

I won't argue with those last two posts, they make perfect sense. Because the co2 increase is exponential with the ph drop. .1 past a ph drop of 1 is much more co2 than the difference between 0 drop...

I never said that a 1 point drop always meant 30ppm in the real world. I was saying that no matter the kh, a 1 pt drop if starting at 3ppm would give you 10x, 30ppm.

This conversation is going the...

I see how your reading the chart, too to bottom, it is meant to be read horizontally. You keep kh constant for the comparisons

Not sure how your reading the chart... At kh of 20. Of you are starting with 3 ppm co2, your ph would be 8.3. drop the ph 1 full point and it is ph of 7.3, co2 of 30.1 ppm.

Now go up the kh...

No because if the kh was higher so would the starting ph! 1 point drop always means 10x and if you start at 3, you'll be at 30.

True, but with the ph controller holding it at 6.8 (.4 drop) shouldn't the drop checker have caught up by now? The levels should not be changing much since the controller holds it
