Their spatula or "gravel flattener" is on sale. Do I really need to have this to flatten the gravel and does it really work?

I just got two of those fixtures from HelloLights last night after debating for weeks because I hated the ugly bronze color. Oh well it was the cheapest way..

10 gallon lighting choices?
