That piece is too small for the tank by itself. You need a larger piece, or several more that are similar in size to the one you already have. Getting a larger piece or pieces would be the better...

+1 for the the riparium. Get a can of "great stuff" expanding foam from home depot and make a wall on the back. Run a bunch of drip lines up into the back wall, easier to do this before the foam!

Even cheap t5hos will blow either light out of the water on a tank that small. The Radion is an expensive spotlight and both have weird color rendering. Just my $0.02 though.

If you keep a good strong ripple across the water's surface you shouldn't need one. The ripple will also increase your oxygen levels, in turn allowing you to run more co2.

That's fine. I've built and rebuilt tanks 10x larger than a 60f and I guarantee you that tiny void is insignificant. Anyone telling you otherwise is either ill-informed, a worry wart, or both.

Looks fine to me. The bubbles look like they are in the excess silicone on the outside of the tank. I'd hit up wherever you bought it from for a slight reimbursement or store credit.
