use two pairs of tweezers. one to shove the roots under the soil and the other to hold the plant in place as you pull out the first pair.

sometimes I 'fold up' the roots and plant that way.

Very nice hardscape.

I'd consider having the sand all to the left (as you have it) and a thin band across the front. Tanks with soil and sand across the front look a bit wrong imo.
