I was thinking of apistos, but last time I tried them they went to town on my shrimp colony, and wiped them all out. German Blue, and Electric Blue rams always seem to do really good in my tanks...

Osmocote+ since we use them submerged under water...

Osmocote+ since we use them submerged under water it tends to last around 3 month, 2 months if it's a sword plant. So expect to replace each tab every 2-3 months, hope this helps.

You are correct in that submerged O+ doesn't last the full 6 month, it'll last between 3-4 months then should be replaced.

Add some Amano shrimp to the tank, it's what I did when I got a big hair algae outbreak they cleared it within a couple of days. Amano shrimp seem to love all types of algae it seems!!!
