If you go with T5HO, you really only need 2 bulbs...

If you go with T5HO, you really only need 2 bulbs across the tank if you have the high quality reflectors and bulbs and CO2 running. Any more than that and you will be looking to dial it back...

Definitely go with a sump on that. What size are the holes in the overflow? I would think it would suit a Herbie style piping or two in the overflow and then use the two in the tank as short outlets...

Build a separate bio ball chamber to sit on top of a part of a lower height sump. The reason to go thick is to stop the bowing. I would think you should be fine with 3/8 with bracing and baffles..
