Looks like temperature in there will be high. Metal isn't exactly a great insulator. Put a thermometer in there.

Dose dry ferts. The flourish stuff isn't enough and will get expensive. Phosphate should be around 4-5 ppm.

Now that I think about it, Algae is pretty normal for a new tank. We all have been there.

It tells me you're not dosing *ENOUGH* nutrients. For such a large tank, I'd go low tech. You would need to add lots of co2 and nutrients and might not be worth it unless you want to and can afford...

They provide some. A large source can be produce in the substrate by bacteria if you have the right kind of substrate, usually dirt( high organic) with substrate granules with lots of surface area...

Obviously, a peristaltic pump will need a tub of water to draw from and can't be plumb into a water line. Also get a brushless pump if you go this route. A brushed pump like last you a week or two...

hmmm, I wonder if you can set up a motion sensor around the tank. You can get one at the hardware store for $30. Sure it doesn't know if it's a kid or a dog but it'll alert you somehow.
