Almost any bulb color will grow plants...typically people use the 6500K bulbs that can be found at the local home improvement store...just be sure to get the 32 watt bulbs that match your fixture....

You can always try 2 and see since its the AH Supply kits. I believe you are gonna want at least 1 more though depending on plant selection. This will also give you better spread over the 18" depth....

I like to use window tint. The 2.5-5% works well. U cannot see thru it unless the tank is backlit and u can remove it if need be.

alvagoldbook, the solarmax HE is not really sealed. The acrylic shield just slides into place from one end of the fixture. If you look on the ends you can see the slot where it comes out.

How tall above the rim of the tank is it to the highest point on the solar t5ho catalina fixtures when using the legs? Just wanna be sure it will fit inside my canopy.

Any updates on running the T5NO in the Catalina fixture? That will be a nice option on my 90 gal I'm setting up. That would give me options to run 2, 3, or 4 bulbs for good spread on the 18" tank...
