An 18" fixture is probably not going to be long...
An 18" fixture is probably not going to be long enough to get light to the ends of the tank. You would really want at least a 36" fixture. I wouldnt personally go with direct sunlight you willmore...

I actually ended up tearing this tank down and...
I actually ended up tearing this tank down and gave away the fish. The fish left the plants alone. They enjoyed digging up the sand around the rocks more than anything. All the plants filled in...

I picked up the 60 gallon tank this weekend in...
I picked up the 60 gallon tank this weekend in wisconsin. Had to put all the dirty laundry and a small cooler inside it to make everything fit for the trip back but it made it :)
