See if the lamp u got is full spectrum. If not u could switch it out. Cheap add on would be a duel incan light and just put 2 full spectrum cfl's in there.

Is it a duel light setup. The good thing about a 40g breeder is its one if the most forgiving tank tank foot print. Long wide and not so tall so its easier to light up. Can always add cheap lighting...

Around my area clubs usually sell the cheapest about 1-2 cheaper. But shops sell around 3-4 bucks for choco, rilis, blue velvets and lighting yellows. And every thing else is usually cheaper.

Change the incan bulb to a cfl its cheap. A 5 gal is alot harder to control a ph swing even over feeding can cause a water param spike in a smaller tank

Start off with simple RCS once you get the hang of these then try CRS. Trying to start with a harder type of shrimp will just lost you time money and dead shrimps. Shrimps are harder to keep then...

If its wild caught try live foods. Alot of badis are feniky eaters badis badis is the less fineky of the bunch but needs time to adjust. Try live black worms or mosqito larva.

I think hes just refering to the ramshorn being brown like wild type. Then the more colorful blue, white, yellows, pink and other mixes we somtimes see.

2-3 assassin snails should skink the population down but not totally get rid of them for awhile. That way you getthe benifits if the mts but not the mass population growth
