Once they are mixed there is no way to separate them. If you buy each ingredient individually then you can customize the dose.

If the primary goal is to use this as a grow out tank but you do not need a lot of cuttings, then non-CO2 is fine, just choose the plants that work. If a plant does not like the set up, then skip it....

The rocks I use for this are pretty small, not a problem in contact with the bottom glass, but I also put a thin bead of expanding foam down there, too. Then press the first course of rocks into it.
