I use it on a "low/medium" light nano @ work. No ferts, excel, or Co2. I get a little bit of hair-algae, but not too bad. I find the arm a little bulky, so I rest it directly on top of the tank.

Are you using Co2 and/or dosing ferts? I've got 2 LED +'s on a 11.3g using the full-spectrum mode, Co2 + EI dosing. Also how is your circulation? IMO staghorn is sometimes a sign of poor circulation....
