I didn't know they could affect snails. Hmm neat. The study does however indicate that the allelopathic compounds of umbellata are pretty effective though.

Turtles probably won't work well with plants. They'll get eaten or trampled. Maybe try something more bullet proof like live sphagnum, riccia or some kind of moss.

When I bought my betta it was sold as a copper. It was metallic gray and black. Flip forward a month. Blueish silver and very metallic. They can change colors. Marble bettas can do so dramatically.

I think it'll be okay. Give it nice coarse rooting medium and it should thrive. I would keep it out of the aquarium for now though. Its roots need all the oxygen it can get.

Yes personal experience. It's not hard to get to conditions it likes. Just hard to always keep them there. One day of lapse makes it stunt to oblivion.

It's hard to keep though. Very finicky about swings. It's really "boom and bust". When it's doing well it gets really bushy really fast. Not enough CO2 and it goes kaput.

Scientific names are preferred for IDs since 3-4 plants are called "chain sword" in this hobby. That said it looks like S. subulata.

No I don't think so. Osmocote tabs have a BIG problem with releasing Nitrogen into the water. I had problems using Fluval stratum and these tabs as well.
