I had Marselia Minuta and DHG together, and both grew like mad. They also ended up growing as a mixed carpet, which did look quite interesting, but somewhat messy.

My dwarf lilly has gone dormant for a few months after sending up surface pads. I just left it in the tank and didn't mess with it. Afterwards I got a TON of daughter plants out of it.

Why not get another larger bowl for the betta? You'd have more options as far as plants go, could put a filter on it, and a heater. Imagine it, your betta weaving in and out of a nice big tall group...
