I'm not sure it it's moving up when the suction cup comes off or what, but all it does is make giant co2 bubbles that get trapped under the sponge.

I feel like I'm getting a lot better CO2...

It honestly isn't that insanely bright, all the plants are growing very quickly now, and I can't even see any algae growing anywhere in the tank. Plus if it does become an issue I can always dim it....

I actually just redid the modification. The tank comes with a built in filter with the overflow grates, but it also has a small slot cut bellow the water line...
