I have the 12" Planted+ on my 7.5g 12" cube. The light works great, and I have mostly low/medium light plants. Also, I have Salvinia floaters to diffuse the light some and combat algae issues.

Done. Works like a champ.

But I do like the idea of a planted spillway, and feel like that will look a whole lot nicer than a piece of plastic bottle. But for a quick fix, the bottle worked great.
