I had tried 2 different caps for the output from 2 different suppliers so I gave up and trashed the caps.

Ebay links are not allowed. The link provided in PM is the one I tried which uses citric acid. You stated you are using vinegar. What is you mixture solution? I had problems with a cap leaking.

The plants might be going through an adjustment period. I have found dosing Brightwell Aquatics FlorinAxis helps the plants to adjust. You can find it on Ebay and Amazon.

Some fish are sensitive to potassium nitrate. I have switched to calcium nitrate for my rainbow fish.
