Any tips for placing larger stones?

I am re-scaping my 55 gallon tank. I just picked up some really nice stone I am going to use. Some of the pieces are large. Not boulder large but in the 10-15 pound range. I want to place them standing up at angles that they arent going to want to stay at on their own. Even partially buried in sand I dont think will be enough. So I am wondering what other people do to get stones to stay the way they want them. Also I have heard of people putting styrofoam under larger rocks. Is this something I should do? Thanks.

Putting the eggcrate lighting diffuser underneath the substrate is quite popular in rock scapes, helps protect the bottom of the aquarium from impacts. If you can, as far as placement, have a helper. Be especially mindful of the dramatic and instant weight difference when bringing a rock up through the water surface. In regards to keeping the rocks where you want them, unfortunately I have no extra tips other than making sure gravity works for you, rather than against you.
