tank build,hard scape,flooded,more plants added **09/25/2013**
Here's the start. I dunno how long it will take due to time but I figured I would start my journal. Plans are going to be for a cube that will be dry start then hopefully turn into a pea puffer tank.
Can I DSM tank with just blasting sand or do I need to use something else and cap it? I would prefer not to do dirted but if I have to I will

Just one more cleaning and I will start to asseble

How did you take the rims off? I'm thinking about doing that on my 15g since one side was already ripped off during transit.

Just used one of those razors that slide out where you can break a section off when it gets dull..

Here is the sand fall. Just need to wait a week for the krylon fusion to cure on my PVC pipe.

Nice job on the tank and looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

You don't need to wait a week. Just 24hrs is enough. That is all I have done.

well im giving it a week mainly b/c i used it to seal a piece of wood so i want to make sure it is fully cured. also i have to wait until thursday until i can get some sand.

If you dont mind me asking. What did it cost you for the glass. I was considering doing a diy fish tank just for fun. I was thinking about 20 gal long, but longer. So probably 30 gallon long. Not sure on dimensions yet.

flukekiller 09-01-2013 02:10 PM

so far this build has only cost me $10. i had an old tank that was no good so i just cut it down to size myself. best chance is trying to get a 55 that is cracked off of craigslist. be careful though b/c once tanks start hitting 55gal and up they use tempered glass for the bottom panel
