Information on the Tanks

Chrisinator 09-28-2013 10:09 PM

Started my first year of college a couple of weeks ago. Both of the tanks are still up back at home being taken care of by my family. I come home every couple of weeks to clean the tank but other wise it is fairly maintenance free. I have a BN pleco and a SAE helping out in the 38G while I have three Otos in my 10G shrimp tank.

I'm not technically allowed to have big tanks at college but manage to speak to my RA to let me have a small 3G betta tank.
Im using a Riparium planter that I saved from when I tried it with my 10G. I'm using it to minimize the amount of nutrients in the tank since it's so small. The betta seems extremely happy and has even made a bubble nest today. There's a small filter in the tank. I need to get a heater for the tank soon as it is starting to get cold but I may end up switching this to a Fluval Spec later on since I don't wanna mess with a plastic tank and a heater problem.

His name is Alpha Betta (Black Body & Red Halfmoon Betta)

Will upload pictures of the other tanks when I come back home soon! Thanks for reading!

*Also planning to add a couple swordtails to the tank and removing both a Gourami and a GWK since they get aggresive with their species.

If anyone could recommend a plastic-safe heater for a small tank, please let me know!

Thank you!

Found an amazing deal for a Fluval Spec $30 at PetCo over Black Friday. It was marked as "Discounted for Quick Sale" and wanted it. Thinking about setting up either a nano-reef or a Peacock Gudgeon breeding tank. Still not totally sure yet?

This is jut the current list of all the tanks I have/will be setting up by New Years.
- 38 G Community Tank
-10G Invert Tank
-Fluval Spec V
-5 Gallon Dorm Tank
-Various 1g bowls for bettas

Current updates of stocklist as there has been some die offs a few weeks before I came home. Seemed to be a huge fungal infection brought in by a bunch of Guppies that I bought.

38G Stocklist:
13 Gold Barbs
6 Red Velvet Swordtails
1 Opaline Gourami
2 Bolivian Rams
4 Pygmy Cories
6 Whisker Shrimp

5G Tank:
3/1 Guppies

10G Tank:
Fire Red Shrimp
2 Otocinclus

Exo Terra & Fluval Spec V TBD

Still not sure what to put in this... any thoughts?

Will upload more photos once the batteries are finished replenishing

you have got MTS syndrome, i have it too!!

i very much liked your 38 gallon in the first picture of the thread. i liked the scape better then than it was in the later picture. your betta is beautiful!! i love his sunken ship decoration! good job on everything!

Chrisinator 01-03-2014 05:21 AM

Thanks, the current 'scape for the 38g is still a work in progress, still trying to figure out a good way to incorporate certain things together

Still looking for recommendations for that Fluval Spec V though! Would shelldwellers be good or should I shoot for a colony of Peacock Gudgeons?

**Don't be alarmed that a lot of the fish are on the tank substrate as I like to take photos when the lights just turn on and the fish are still sluggish***

Nice pics! How's the growth on the hygro? Did you happen to get it at petco?

The growth on my Hygro has slowed down just because this tank is at home and I'm in college. I did not get it from PetCo but from a hobbyist.

New additions to the 10G Shrimp Tank:

Got three of them for $6.99 and probably will get two more tomorrow evening as they are cheaper than even online stores! One is even berried! Wish me luck! These may become the new resident of my Fluval Spec and create a rocky type of aquarium.

Crossing my fingers for CPO babies soon!

Chrisinator 01-21-2014 10:04 PM

Added some Wrestling Halfbeaks a couple of days ago!

I'm back for the spring semester in college so I probably will only update every couple of weeks when I return home.

HybridHerp 01-22-2014 02:04 AM

how are the CPO doing with fish, shrimp, and plants?

I hear you on some tanks doing meh though, I'm in college as well, only my 5.5 comes with me. My high tech stuff stays home, agh.
