Definitely keep an eye out on Current's new product (Kevin didn't even tell me the name yet) but I was able to see it in person. This is going to be that "calling" everyone in the aquatic hobby has been asking for with LED's.

Brian_Cali77 07-23-2013 12:05 PM

I want it! Haha

Dahammer 07-23-2013 11:46 PM

Wow an LED fixture that can be adjusted from low PAR to high PAR by the press of a button. And a built in timer that allows for you to set multiple lighting schemes based on the time of day, e.g. low light for the morning that gradually increases to high then back down to moonlight at night before finally going off automatically. All in an affordable price point. That be the one? Can't wait!

If it's a controller, I beat them to it with a $25 Arduino. I have the code for the Satellite LED+ available via PM for DIY types... hesitant to post it and step on Current's toes.

Why would it be stepping on anyone's toes? If someone wants to buy an Ardunio and program it - power to them I say. Some people just want a turn-key application while others like to tinker.

Anyways, just got back from Superzoo and was able to take a few pictures before the security escorted me out but not before i swallowed the memorystick.

They are plug-n-plug controllers that connect to existing Current USA lights. They have a single & dual "Ramp Timer" (they call them Ramp timers just FYI)

  • Single Ramp Timer is suggested to be $39.99 and out by the Q3 (around August)
  • Dual Ramp timer is not listed yet but will be able to control two separate fixtures if your one of those Big ballers lol.

I was also able to acquire from lecture to scan before getting handcuffed and put into mandalay bay's private jail (great reading material while you sit with the other half-drunks in the cell!). Definitely keep an eye out if your looking for a plug-n-play system with your new current USA fixture, you might even be able to persuade them to do a giveaway if you bug Current USA on facebook.

O..o this is getting too sexy for me.
And I am looking for a fix(ture) or two.
WTS my second born, cheap.

Now only more PAR and spread is left for perfection c 2013.

Looks like you have to get the dual or pro to control the moonlights independently, yet they don't work with the Satellite+. That seems to be the most requested feature I see and the feature I was most interested in. I want to be able to turn the moonlights on when the other lights go out and leave them on for ever how long I decide too. It looks to me like it would have been easy to do through the single channel controller.

Perhaps the dual and pro controllers will work with plus, but just on one channel since it only has one. I'm not sure. I will stay tuned.

Just FYI it's still a prototype and don't know when those stat sheets were made. Kevin should be able to let you know, I didn't really talk to the other current USA team. I believe with the dual Ramp, you are able to go from day to night but don't quote me (going to go play with them for a second)

I'm interested! Keep us updated!

Awesome! Definitely not stepping on anyone's toes. It would only help us sell more lights but the only thing you should keep in mind is the codes change once in a while. They aren't perfect yet and sometimes interfere with TV remotes so in our next batches, they should be changing.

Hey Dahammer,

What do you mean they don't work with Satellite plus? The pro timer will be the only one to be able to control individual colors. The other 2 timers are ramp up and ramp down only. If you want the premium functions, you'll have to use the premium product

Brian_Cali77 07-25-2013 04:40 PM

So how much is this pro timer going to cost? I might just want to try it out with the Sat+

:)

Dahammer saw the pdf and i believe he thinks it's a compatibility chart where it's actually a recommendation chart (believe you can use either one of these controllers on any of the current USA lights)

Cool! I absolutely love your lights, I have 6 of them right now if you include one that is torn apart on my workbench for "experimentation". I have a thread on my Arduino project here if you guys are interested in checking it out. I'm sure it isn't quite as nice as your controllers, but it gets the job done :)

As far as them interfering with TV's, I have figured out that they are 38 kHz (or somewhere around there)... maybe changing to a less common IR frequency would help.
