All those who live in Hurricane Alley needs to keep an eye on this killer storm and have plans in place to try and salvage what you can in the event of a prolonged power outage or, heaven forbid, a direct hit.

If it looks like it's coming your way, don't think, just run. A storm like this can and most likey will kill you if you don't give it the respect it deserves.

Stay safe.

It does look like a wicked storm. They aren't too sure about how it is going to track just yet, however this may be a good time to consider putting together an emergency kit:

I know whereforth I speak. :D

Having lived all my live on the Georgia coast I've learned to live with these monsters. We had a real scare with HUGO in 1989. It ended up clobbering Charleston, S.C. which is only about 100 miles up the coast as the crow flies. The devastation had to be seen to be believed. We went up there a few weeks after it hit and it still looked like a war zone. Just to the north of Charleston on Hwy 17 there used to be miles and miles of tall pines. After Hugo, they looked like the Tunguska explosion, all laying down in the same direction. Charleston itself was littered with debris and there was not a business sign left intact. Nasty stuff, really. :(

Well Isabel might as well been in Texas yesterday. We got over 3 inches of rain yesterday afternoon. I myself lived in Florida for 10 years so I have seen the worst of the worst. I was their during Andrew. ONe of the worst they had seen for awhile.

I'm in the Gulf of Mexico Hurricane path, which has been relatively inactive this year. Looks Isabel won't be posing any threat, either. I might sneak through with my third year in hurricane country without a hurricane! :D

I feel that GCA! I moved from Fort Walton Bch FL to Okinawa Japan...there we got SUPERTYPHOONS....I was usually gone when they came through flying our planes to Guam or Korea.

The last Cane I went through in FWB was Huricane Erin/Fran/opal i recall.....Was gone again for those as well in Brindisi Italy. Wifey always weathered em with stride though! (Remember folks if you are in the way get the heck out of there!)

Having lived in Jacksonville, FL for 20yrs and then moving to Savannah, GA,
I know all about hurricanes and evacuations and tornados and lightening and every other conceivable weather problem, lol. I still remember stories about hurricane Dora, that came through Jax, when my mother was a young girl. It ripped the roof, right off the house....
Same thing happened to a man living about an hour from where I am now. He said he awoke to rain on his face and a view of the stars, after one bad tornado.

This storm is kinda creeping me out and I must say I am a little worried.
I hear bad things about evacuations in Savannah.

A lot of people I talked to today didn't even know that Isabel is out there and heading this way. Hey, it's only a class 5 hurricane. :(

As far as evacuating, get an early start or wait til the crowd clears but don't try to ride it out. Hurricanes have been known to spoil Hurrican Parties. :(
