Galvanized steel in shrimp tank?
I'm looking for a mesh material to pt my Christmas moss in to make a mat. Is galvanized steel ok to use? It's all that is available at local hardware stores. I know it will rust eventually but I've read that takes a while. I read the coating is zinc? I'm not sure on zinc's effects in a tank.
Does anyone know if galvanized steel is ok in a shrimp tank, and if not, some suggestions on other materials to use? |

Why not just use fiberglass? Just as available as ss? Or is that a no no?

Go to your local craft store and pick up some plastic mesh (can't remember the actual name of the stuff). It comes in loads of different colors with one cm by one cm squares all over. It's usually in the sewing/needlepoint section.

Yeah, avoid anything galvanized. Zinc can be fairly toxic for a lot of things (humans too - If you know any blacksmiths or welders, they tend to avoid working with galvanized steel, since the fumes can be toxic)

Why not stick to stainless steel mesh?
