man this plant is a looker esp under high light. turns a very red i might love this plant ahhahha
|
i also have found threw having this plant that it is pretty impervious to alge
|
I think its blyxa aubertii. I dont know, not sure.
|
nope its japonica i always see pics of it green with no red. honestly my pics dont do it justice. those redder looking leaves are like fire red. and it splits so fast. love it
|
It will get red with enough light and iron.
|
Tell me how to get it to grow roots. Mine look similar but rarely seem to get much in the way of root structures. Even after weeks anchored in the substrate my largest piece has zero roots. Nevertheless it grows and even multiplies, but I wish I could keep it in place without extra effort.

What kind of substrate do you have?
what is ur phosphorous at? |

One of my fav plants.. They grow like weed if provide enough light and CO2.
They fill my 55 tank nicely:) |
mine roots like crazy in just flourite it rooted like crazy. i have dirt with flourite cap right now.
no root tabs either just api iron and potassium and flourish i cant even say enough good about flourite. every plant i ever had rooted so thick in this stuff its like super soil. if you want to start a tank with it just mix your water ferts in a bucket with the flourite and it will absorb it and be fertilized let it sit over night and then plant a tank works great |
Nice blyxa

Seriously, I need help with this plant lol
One thing I just tried though, is I shoved some into steel mesh that is meant more for moss....and it fit, and its keeping it all down in the substrate, and I am happy :P Do you guys clip the side shoots and then replant them, or do you just let them sideshoot all day long until it becomes a massive bush thing? |
