Lighting questions (NEW)
The majority of my learnings come from (thegreenmachineonline.com), and I haven't found answers to a few questions.
I'm just starting a 75 gallon planted tank. From the research I have done, I have learnt the following (please correct me if some of this is false, or just completely incorrect).
- ~2 watts/gallon (**EDIT....just read the first sticky document!)
- Between 5,000 - 7,000 K
- Do not exceed 150 watts
With that said, the Aquatic Life Dual-Lamp T5 HO Fixture is available locally. The light fixture has the following specs: (1) 48" 54W T5 HO 6K Lamp (1) 48" 54W T5 HO 650nm Lamp
My questions are as follow:
- To achieve the 'minimum 2 watts/gallon' I need to purchase 2 of there which combine for a total of 216 watts. I will be at 2.88watts/gallon. Will this have a negative impact?
- The "650nm" Lamp is a pink rosate T5. I haven't found much supporting evidence for this style. Would I be better suited to replaced this with a 5,000-7,000K T5?
- Are there any other light fixtures that are in general recommended by the community and within a similar price range? I understand lighting is extremely important and don't want to skip out or make a mistake in this department.
Thanks in advance for answers, and glad to be apart of the forums! Hope I posted this in the right section :)
